The 8-Week Progressive Lift Plan
Skeletal muscle is where the glucose goes. More cardio does not build any.

Insulin-stimulated glucose disposal happens in skeletal muscle, and that is the primary site of the defect. Cardio burns fuel while you do it and stops when you stop; it does not build the tissue doing the work.
Five lifts, two alternating sessions, eight weeks of adding weight to the same movements. There is no sixth exercise in this book, because variety is not what produces the result.
What is inside
3 pages · PDF
- Eight weeks of sets, reps and load increments written out — no session starts with a decision
- Five movements only: squat, hinge, push, pull, carry
- The deload rule, and the one signal that tells you to use it
- Why the intensity ceiling matters here more than in general training
- Four studies cited inline, each verified against its NCBI record
Who this is not for
Most guides skip this. It is the most useful section on the page, because a guide that is wrong for you does not fail gently — it costs you a month and convinces you the problem is your willpower.
- Anyone with an eating disorder, or a history of one — including exercise as compensation
- Pregnancy, or any postpartum period without clearance
- An existing injury, uncontrolled hypertension, or any condition where a Valsalva under load is contraindicated
- Anyone who wants a calorie burn figure — it is the wrong metric for what this does

This is education, not medical care
Nothing in this guide is a diagnosis, a prescription, or a treatment plan. Talk to a qualified clinician before acting on it — especially if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, breastfeeding, under 18, taking prescription medication, or living with an eating disorder.
Questions
- Do I need a gym?
- A barbell or dumbbells and somewhere to do it. The programme is written around load progression, which needs something that can get heavier.
- I have never lifted before.
- Week one is deliberately almost weightless — it exists to learn the pattern. The progression assumes you start there.
- Is this enough on its own?
- For the muscle, yes. It is not a diet and does not pretend to be; it pairs with the meal plans rather than replacing them.
